Lexie is 8 months

I can't believe my baby girl was born 8 months ago. She is getting so big and is so beautiful and clever! Lexie has her fitting tomorrow for a baby modelling job she is doing. So cute, I can't wait to see the pictures after the shoot in a weeks time. She will be gorgeous - I have no doubt. She's so clever, she is now crawling everywhere, into everything, she also today figured out how to get onto her knees and pull herself into a standing position. She will walk before 12 months I am sure of that. Lexie can open the door on the TV cabinet, she figured out that if she pulls on the ring on the door that this will pull it open. I came into the loungeroom and she had Yahtzee out of the cupboard and was trying to get the box open. She waves hello and goodbye. She has started saying 'bubububub' which is so lovely to hear, i'm just waiting for 'mumumumum' which shouldn't be too far off. She has this funny thing she does when she is excited where she deliberately breathes really heavy and kind of burrows her head into a pillow or my shoulder. She has started doing this thing where she deliberately falls backwards into me to get a cuddle, my friends baby does the same thing, he's 18 months old, maybe she saw him doing it to me and figured she could do it too. She has a little friend Sammi who is 9 months old, she's a little marvel and it's so funny to watch the two of them crawling around together getting into things, they make us laugh so much. Lexie also loves to flap her arms around when she is excited and will squeal or make babble noises to show she is happy. The maternal health nurse said Lexie is very advanced for her age and is more like a child of 12 months old. Amazing. Okay so I am the doting mother but come on - my kid is a cutie patootie!

Lexie has two teeth

And here they are... Lexie's two teeth, on display today at our lunchdate. She is just way too cute for her own good! Crawling everywhere, into everything, talking her head off, growing up super quick and making her mamma proud.

Funny Baby

Lexie is hilarious. She blows raspberry's to make me laugh, she chucks tantrums then laughs at herself. I put her down for her nap and hear her giggling to herself before she falls asleep. Today she made me cry tears of laughter. I put a hat on her head before going out for our morning walk, turned around to pick something up and then when I turned back around. This is what her hat looked like. Go homegirl! She was laughing just as much as me. I'm not sure if she pushed it to the side so she could see better or not - but it was just sooooooo funny!!!

It's Christmas time !!

I am so excited to be preparing for Lexie's first Christmas. I don't seem to be able to come home from shopping without some little item for her. I can't wait to wrap all her presents the night before. I already bought a tree, just a little one but she seems to like it. I'm planning our menu for the day and of course now that Lexie eats solids she'll have her very own special Christmas day menu. We'll go to Nanna's next weekend and put the tree up and decorate the house. It almost feels like I am a kid again and get to look forward to Christmas! I can't wait to see how she reacts to all the presents under the tree. She talks nonstop now with her new favourite sound 'dadadadada' sometimes I swear it sounds like Daddy - she's so cute and funny. She's now cutting her second tooth and she's not nearly as grizzly as she was with her first. She's getting so cuddly and affectionate and playful too. We have several little games that she loves and laughs her head off at. She loves it if I pretend to bite her or if we play the boo game where I hide behind the couch and then dive out with a big growl. She is not a shy baby at all - very bold and adventurous! I think this will be the week she masters crawling, she is so close and has managed a few little steps but hasn't actually taken off yet. She's really developing her own little personality and at times can be quite naughty! When she's having her dinner if she doesn't like it she will deliberately spit it out which is really funny or she'll make a really defiant sound and kind of bunch all of her body up to let me know she's not keen on the vegies or it's time to get out of the chair. It's so hard not to laugh at her. I think I spend my days laughing. She's such a joy. The best gift ever.

Toothy Grin

Lexie has two teeth! She's been so good, hardly grizzling but I can tell by her cry that they hurt her. Her cheeks are bright red today and I can see the second tooth has now broken through the gum. These are her bottom middle incisors and they are bang on time. Lexie will crawl soon, she is now getting into what they call the downward dog position in yoga, she gets up on her knees rocks back and forth and then pushes with her feet so she is looking down in what kind of looks like a bent in half pushup, I actually saw her coordinate pulling her knee forward today so I am guessing crawling could be next! So funny! We have also discovered a new game, she lies on her tummy and then rolls over so her stomach lifts off the ground, I tickle her and she laughs her head off before rolling back down, she then repeats the whole process, it's so cute and this game can last for at least ten minutes! She is such a happy contented baby, everyone comments on her gorgeous happy nature! She is also going to feature in a children's clothes ad campaign in December, very exciting and I should end up with some beautiful photos of her. She is very photogenic, I took some beautiful photos of her yesterday and today. Her eyes are amazing, almond shaped, so big and blue with green specks in the middle, her eyelashes are really long and just seem to get thicker and thicker as she gets older. I am of course a completely biased mum... people gush over Lexie all the time so i'm guessing it's not just me being a proud mummy!

Lexie is 7 months

We are just home from Masada Private Hospital where we spent 6 days! Lexie is now 7 months old and did so much this week, she cut her first tooth, started saying 'dadadadada', slept through the night twice, can now sit on her own, roll from front to back and back to front, she can worm crawl backwards and rotate crawl and finally she can get up on all wobbly fours. When I put her down for her nap now invariably when I go in to check her she has flipped onto her tummy and is asleep or is sideways across the cot or completely the opposite way of how I put her down, it is so funny! She laughs readily and is a happy baby, so placid and pleasant. Before I know it - she will be off and crawling around the whole house and getting ready to walk. She's only 7 months, how can she be so advanced! She's doing things babies arn't supposed to do til 9months! I can read her a book for a 2 year old and she watches and listens intently. She is amazing. See what you think!

Giddyup Lexie

Yesterday Lexie went to the races for the first time! Well second time if you count in utero. It was family day and the final day of the Spring Racing Carnival here in Melbourne. Kids are everywhere and it is in general a nice day to go. We had a bit of drama getting there, sent to the wrong side of the track, made to park in a paddock and expected to weave our way through thousands to get back to the right side of the track. One hissy fit later and I was driving back to the members carpark with my hazards on. As I was putting Lexie in the car she clearly knew I was distressed, she put her hand onto my cheek and giggled at me - what could I do but give my girl a hug, she is so sensitive! Finally we arrived at the Nursery meeting the gorgeous Neroli and lovely Mike at the gates. There was nothing but cuddles and attention for Lexie and she was in 7th heaven. Kimba had outdone herself again in providing a marquee with the best. By 4pm it was time to head home, Lexie was done and dusted for the day and in bed and fast asleep before I could say dinner, bath, book, bed!

Lexie joins team Brangelina

Yesterday Lexie, my mum and I went and collected her cot. I decided to get her a top of the line Stokke - I figure my pumpkin deserves the best plus the cot is a gorgeous piece of furniture that transforms as baby grows. Lexie seemed genuiney impressed with her new cot and slept from 7.30pm - 5am as if to prove to me just how ready she was to transition to her big girl cot! It was kind of sad putting her bassinette away, but her bassinette did her proud! My little girl is getting so big...she can sit on her own for a little bit now. You would think she would have gotten at least a teeny bit grumpy yesterday - afterall Nanna and Mummy were out all day shopping! But not Lexie. She is so good natured... she was enthralled at all the people and things to look at and only had a smile for anyone who wanted to say hello. This week we are off to get her 6 month immunisations and then there are no more shots til 12 months! Lexie is really becoming a little girl - it's so beautiful to watch her grow.

Lexie's first bed before she was born and after in her bassinette first day home... so little...

I like my jacket

Lexie was given so many gorgeous presents when she was born. This beautiful pink jacket was one of them. Unfortunately we've been waiting 6 months for it to fit her! It fits her now though - and doesn't she look gorgeous in it - like a little Eskimo. EskimoBooBoo. BooBoo seems to be her nickname, if I say 'what's up BooBoo, she looks at me' if I say 'hello LexieBoo' she looks at me. When I arrived at the gym the other day I said 'say hello to the girls BooBoo' and I swear Lexie lifted up her arm and waved. She's a clever little tot.

Lexie has a cough

Lexie and I are just back from doing the shopping! We alternate where we go, we never shop on the same day and we like to try new things! Today it was Safeway on Acland Street, so big and so much to choose from. It was a tucked away surprise. I bought a lot of different things for Lexie to try as she is really getting into her 3 meals a day now. She loves sweetcorn it seems to be her favourite, but she is also eating pumpkin, rice cereal, pear and yoghurt. She doesn't seem to keen on apples though. Poor little muffin has one of those coughs that sounds probably worse than it is. I took her to the Dr and he said that if she gets worse she'll have to have antibiotics. Seeings as she is fairly happy I figure she's okay. Baby Panadol is a marvel. Lexie is still loving her bath, she kicks her feet and splashes around and loves to suck on the face washer.

We spent the entire weekend at the Pregnancy, Babies and Children Expo. I was working and Lexie was either in her pram or in my arms for the entire time. It was wonderful, great to get some extra dollars but everyone just loved Lexie. She was so good and is definately a peoples baby, she smiles at anyone and everyone. She is such a happy baby, she is just beautiful. I also got her some goodies from the Expo. A shopping trolley cover so that she doesn't get any nasties - i've just been using a cloth nappy, also some new dummies and lots of Sorbies nappies which are a new brand coming on the market.

We love trying new things! I wonder what we will try new tomorrow...

Let's hope Lexie inherited mummy's love and talent for music! It sure looks like she might have! Here's what happens when Olly the Nick Jnr muppet comes on the TV!

Oh look Lexie - It's Olly !!

"What's going on? It's all upside down!"

Olly sure is fun!

Eating is fun

Lexie loves her food - except when it tastes bleugh - then she trys to make her tongue get as far away from her as possible.

What do you think of rice cereal BooBoo?

What about when mummy puts some bannana custard with it?

I thought that would taste better!

Next post ... sing along with Olly 'we looooove Nick Jnr'

Welcome Welcome Welcome

Welcome to LexieBoo - the blog dedicated to the life and times of my daughter Lexie.

As you can see there are a couple of posts already - given that Lexie and I are both under the weather with a cold today - I guess it's not the most auspicious way to launch this little project of ours.

However, I welcome you to our online home! Please feel free to post comments and enjoy the posts.

I thought I would share for the occasion. Lexie was practicing getting ready to crawl this afternoon and getting quite grumpy about it too! I couldn't stop laughing... see what you think -- predictions please! When do we think Lexie will get it coordinated and do the crawl !!

Okay - so this looks a little mean, but seriously I was doing something, heard a commotion, turned around and she was doing the 'why can't I crawl yet!' what could I do - but grab my video camera - she's just so cute. A big cuddle with mum after and as you can see in video number 2 - she was happy as larry just frustrated she can't crawl yet!!

Trying to crawl

What happened when Mum stepped in - see she says 'I'm happy, just frustrated!'

Tomorrow - Eating is fun ...

Lexie has a cold

My poor little muffin has a cold. It's the weather, one minute it's hot and the next it's cold again, add to that constantly doing things and friends children with colds and littlies don't stand a chance.

She's very blocked up and just wants to be held by mummy. She's having a nap at the moment which has given me a chance to post this!

She was six months old on Saturday and I have now officially started her on solids. So far she's had Farex baby rice cereal, bananna, baby oatmeal and apple. She loves food! Eats it all up, I am so glad I waited til 6months like they recommend. Everyone was egging me on to start earlier but I held out, and I'm glad I did because she is so interested in eating and loves the process and munches everything I give her straight down. Clever little clogs!

She was so funny yesterday, she really wasn't sure about the pureed apple and kept making the funniest faces, she'd gag and stick her tongue out as far as it would go as if trying to actually get away from her tongue, it was so funny, I just laughed and laughed and of course the minute she saw that I thought it was funny well then she was in gales of giggles too.

My god she is a beautiful child - she's just so sweet. Even though she's sick she still smiles and laughs, she's just the most precious thing ever.

Lexie recently went to the pool for the first time and loved it - the photo is of her in the swing at MSAC in one of the baby swings. Don't you think she's adorable? I think she's just gorgeous. She is my life.

We Are Tired

Lexie isn't sleeping properly through the day and at nighttime she does sleep and goes back to sleep easily enough, but she wakes up quite a bit after 2am and as a consequence I am tired and I am sure she must be too.

She is napping right now and I am going to take a nap as well.

We are just back from the Dr as I had to visit for my own medical reasons which I won't broadcast to the world!

I'm sending off the forms for sleep school today - i'm exhausted and I really need to go.

Friday I start Lexie on solids - it's very exciting, but also a little sad - my little girl is growing up.

Before I know it - she'll be crawling.

Boo with LexieBoo

Lexie's loves to play Boo !!
