It's Christmas time !!

I am so excited to be preparing for Lexie's first Christmas. I don't seem to be able to come home from shopping without some little item for her. I can't wait to wrap all her presents the night before. I already bought a tree, just a little one but she seems to like it. I'm planning our menu for the day and of course now that Lexie eats solids she'll have her very own special Christmas day menu. We'll go to Nanna's next weekend and put the tree up and decorate the house. It almost feels like I am a kid again and get to look forward to Christmas! I can't wait to see how she reacts to all the presents under the tree. She talks nonstop now with her new favourite sound 'dadadadada' sometimes I swear it sounds like Daddy - she's so cute and funny. She's now cutting her second tooth and she's not nearly as grizzly as she was with her first. She's getting so cuddly and affectionate and playful too. We have several little games that she loves and laughs her head off at. She loves it if I pretend to bite her or if we play the boo game where I hide behind the couch and then dive out with a big growl. She is not a shy baby at all - very bold and adventurous! I think this will be the week she masters crawling, she is so close and has managed a few little steps but hasn't actually taken off yet. She's really developing her own little personality and at times can be quite naughty! When she's having her dinner if she doesn't like it she will deliberately spit it out which is really funny or she'll make a really defiant sound and kind of bunch all of her body up to let me know she's not keen on the vegies or it's time to get out of the chair. It's so hard not to laugh at her. I think I spend my days laughing. She's such a joy. The best gift ever.

Toothy Grin

Lexie has two teeth! She's been so good, hardly grizzling but I can tell by her cry that they hurt her. Her cheeks are bright red today and I can see the second tooth has now broken through the gum. These are her bottom middle incisors and they are bang on time. Lexie will crawl soon, she is now getting into what they call the downward dog position in yoga, she gets up on her knees rocks back and forth and then pushes with her feet so she is looking down in what kind of looks like a bent in half pushup, I actually saw her coordinate pulling her knee forward today so I am guessing crawling could be next! So funny! We have also discovered a new game, she lies on her tummy and then rolls over so her stomach lifts off the ground, I tickle her and she laughs her head off before rolling back down, she then repeats the whole process, it's so cute and this game can last for at least ten minutes! She is such a happy contented baby, everyone comments on her gorgeous happy nature! She is also going to feature in a children's clothes ad campaign in December, very exciting and I should end up with some beautiful photos of her. She is very photogenic, I took some beautiful photos of her yesterday and today. Her eyes are amazing, almond shaped, so big and blue with green specks in the middle, her eyelashes are really long and just seem to get thicker and thicker as she gets older. I am of course a completely biased mum... people gush over Lexie all the time so i'm guessing it's not just me being a proud mummy!

Lexie is 7 months

We are just home from Masada Private Hospital where we spent 6 days! Lexie is now 7 months old and did so much this week, she cut her first tooth, started saying 'dadadadada', slept through the night twice, can now sit on her own, roll from front to back and back to front, she can worm crawl backwards and rotate crawl and finally she can get up on all wobbly fours. When I put her down for her nap now invariably when I go in to check her she has flipped onto her tummy and is asleep or is sideways across the cot or completely the opposite way of how I put her down, it is so funny! She laughs readily and is a happy baby, so placid and pleasant. Before I know it - she will be off and crawling around the whole house and getting ready to walk. She's only 7 months, how can she be so advanced! She's doing things babies arn't supposed to do til 9months! I can read her a book for a 2 year old and she watches and listens intently. She is amazing. See what you think!

Giddyup Lexie

Yesterday Lexie went to the races for the first time! Well second time if you count in utero. It was family day and the final day of the Spring Racing Carnival here in Melbourne. Kids are everywhere and it is in general a nice day to go. We had a bit of drama getting there, sent to the wrong side of the track, made to park in a paddock and expected to weave our way through thousands to get back to the right side of the track. One hissy fit later and I was driving back to the members carpark with my hazards on. As I was putting Lexie in the car she clearly knew I was distressed, she put her hand onto my cheek and giggled at me - what could I do but give my girl a hug, she is so sensitive! Finally we arrived at the Nursery meeting the gorgeous Neroli and lovely Mike at the gates. There was nothing but cuddles and attention for Lexie and she was in 7th heaven. Kimba had outdone herself again in providing a marquee with the best. By 4pm it was time to head home, Lexie was done and dusted for the day and in bed and fast asleep before I could say dinner, bath, book, bed!

Lexie joins team Brangelina

Yesterday Lexie, my mum and I went and collected her cot. I decided to get her a top of the line Stokke - I figure my pumpkin deserves the best plus the cot is a gorgeous piece of furniture that transforms as baby grows. Lexie seemed genuiney impressed with her new cot and slept from 7.30pm - 5am as if to prove to me just how ready she was to transition to her big girl cot! It was kind of sad putting her bassinette away, but her bassinette did her proud! My little girl is getting so big...she can sit on her own for a little bit now. You would think she would have gotten at least a teeny bit grumpy yesterday - afterall Nanna and Mummy were out all day shopping! But not Lexie. She is so good natured... she was enthralled at all the people and things to look at and only had a smile for anyone who wanted to say hello. This week we are off to get her 6 month immunisations and then there are no more shots til 12 months! Lexie is really becoming a little girl - it's so beautiful to watch her grow.

Lexie's first bed before she was born and after in her bassinette first day home... so little...
